In the first race, Philip Geipel and YACO Racing, with support from Markus Winkelhock placed fifth to achieve their best result of the season so far. Early this Sunday morning, the Audi drivers again showed that they had everything sorted. Geipel/Winkelhock in the Audi R8 LMS ultra took best time in the warm-up from Fabian Hamprecht/Nicki Thiim, who are on pole on Sunday, and also beat off competition from Kelvin van der Linde/René Rast, who head the standings and won the first race.

Andreas Wirth and Daniel Keilwitz finished fourth in their Corvette ahead of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 driven by Luca Stolz/Maximilian Götz (HTP Motorsport). The warm-up was uneventful, except for one little slide into the gravel by Florian Stoll in the Audi R8 LMS ultra.
