The GT3 class of motor racing, as defined by the world governing body FIA and with which the ADAC GT Masters complies, has the pleasure of welcoming a new addition. Lexus have already shown they are serious about getting involved in GT3 racing with the launch of their RC F coupé. At the Autosalon in Geneva (6th -16th March), Lexus will unveil a prototype of the RC F GT3, thus becoming the second car manufacturer from Japan after Nissan to throw its hat into the GT3 ring. The Toyota subsidiary has not yet committed itself to a launch date for production.
The GT3 version of the Lexus is based on the road-going version of the RC F which will make its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March and arrive in the showrooms towards the back end of the year. The series RC F is powered by a newly developed 5-litre V8 engine pumping out considerably more than 450bhp. According to Lexus, the engine of the RC F is the most powerful V8 that they have ever put in a mass-produced model.
Lexus will be publishing further details about the RC F GT3 in early March.
