In future, Mercedes-Benz drivers in the ADAC GT Masters will be able to secure points in the new AMG Customer Sports Championship run by Mercedes AMG. Mercedes AMG has launched its own trophy, the AMG Customer Sports Championship, following the example of the Porsche Cup and the BMW Sports Trophy. The assessment period for the 2015 AMG Customer Sports Championship begins on December 1st.

AMG will have three different categories: 'Pro Driver' for drivers ranked platinum, gold or silver according to their FIA driver classification, 'Driver' for drivers in the FIA bronze driver class and a 'Team' ranking. Anyone who races or fields an SLS AMG GT3 in 2015 is eligible. AMG pool drivers, AMG works driver and AMG brand ambassadors are excluded from the competition.

Maximum transparency is a big feature of the AMG Customer Sports Championship. All participants can view fellow competitors' points online at any time. A database has been added to the main AMG customer sports portal for that purpose. Every race result involving an SLS AMG GT3 will be documented there and will be easily accessible. Points in the AMG Customer Sports Championship are awarded using a simple formula that is fixed in the regulations. Following the official FIA approach, points are awarded for places in class eg, 25 points for a first place. In addition, multiplication factors, taking into account race duration and level of each class are used. All results for SLS AMG GT3s in races as prescribed in the regulations will count. For the team competition, all results that a team achieves in races that are eligible will be used, no matter how many gullwings are deployed. The inaugural season of the AMG Customer Sports Championship opens on 1st December 2014 and ends on 30th November 2015.

Competing in the ADAC GT Masters counts double for teams fielding SLS AMG and drivers of SLS AMGs. The Super Sports Car League is one of the racing series where drivers and teams can secure double points towards the championship.

The 2015 AMG Customer Sports Championship is not just about fame and glory, a number of attractive prizes are also on offer.
