The successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is being prepared. Mercedes AMG GmbH will continue their involvement in customer sport in the GT3 class with a new model. The latest Mercedes AMG GT3 is set to join the line-up in 2016. Next year marks the start of a period of intensive testing and development for the racing version of the new sports car based on the Mercedes AMG GT road model.
Support services for the SLS AMG GT3 will remain in place when the Mercedes AMG GT3 is introduced. Supplies of spare parts and service support are guaranteed for the future. All teams continuing to field the racing gullwing are thus ensured a degree of planning certainty and can rely on the usual comprehensive support from AMG customer sport.
The Gullwing with the three-pointed star was again a big success in its fourth season. Around 80 SLS AMG GT3s have been sold to customer teams, achieving 29 pole positions and 34 wins so far between them from 416 race starts. ADAC GT Masters driver Maro Engel secured the most recent victory for a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 on Sunday. He won the Macau GT Cup for the first time, finishing ahead of fellow Mercedes driver Renger van der Zande. In this year's ADAC GT Masters, Maximilian Götz and Maximilian Buhk notched up two wins for the SLS AMG GT3, in Oschersleben and at the Lausitzring, while Alon Day and Luca Ludwig secured two pole positions, at the Nürburgring and in Hockenheim. The Gullwing in racing trim has taken six wins and seven pole positions overall in the ADAC GT Masters since 2011.
