When knee surgery forced Heinz-Harald Frentzen to cancel his appearance at the Sachsenring fixture, sponsors Buchbinder Rent-a-Car decided to hold an online vote. Ronny Melkus and Maximilian Götz fought extremely hard to the very end for the cockpit in the gullwing. The name of the driver who has won through and will get to drive in Saxony at the weekend is to be announced at a press conference in Chemnitz on Thursday morning. Tension will remain high until Thursday when both Melkus and Götz will be on hand in Chemnitz to hear the outcome of the voting which has now closed.

The ADAC GT Masters will also introduce itself to fans in Chemnitz on Thursday. A range of vehicles from the ADAC GT Masters, the Formel ADAC and the DTC DMSB - ADAC Procar will be exhibited throughout the day at the Neumarkt. YACO Racing's Audi R8 LMS ultra will represent the Super Sports Car League. Local driver Philip Geipel will also make himself available to sign autographs for fans and talk about cars to fellow petrol heads.
