Zakspeed are intensifying their motor racing involvement in the 2015 season. In the forthcoming ADAC GT Masters campaign, they will be entering two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3s. The partnership between Zakspeed and BKK Mobil Oil is set to continue. The outfit will be registered under the official name 'Mobil Oil Team Zakspeed', and Luca Ludwig will continue as a member of the squad. A decision regarding his co-driver will be announced at a later date.
Discussions are still underway concerning the optimum deployment for the second Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 which could either challenge for the Gentlemen title or be sent into action as a sort of 'junior car' with a couple of budding young talents at the wheel. Zakspeed hope to have the final driver line-up sorted out by February.
2014 was Zakspeed's first full season with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 in the Super Sports Car League. The solitary Zakspeed SLS AMG secured podium finishes at the Nürburgring and in the grand finale at Hockenheim. What's more, Alon Day qualified for pole position at the Nürburgring and Luca Ludwig repeated the feat at Hockenheim.
"I would like to especially thank my drivers for the 2014 season," said team principal Peter Zakowski. "They did a sensational job. The whole team demonstrated in a very short time the same high level of competitiveness that we have been used to in the past. Our sponsors and partners laid the groundwork for that with their financial backing. I would like to express my thanks for the confidence they have shown in us."
