ADAC GT Masters·16.8.2015

ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the race: Observations from the paddock after Race 2 at the Nürburgring.

Marc Basseng (#24 kfzteile24 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), winner: "This victory tastes very sweet, because it was hard-won. No-one was doing us any favours right from the first lap. With our team-mates taking second place, that rounded off an almost perfect weekend. At last, our team seems to have made the breakthrough. Especially at the start, you could see that I've experienced a wide range of situations here at the Nürburgring. I managed to ward off all the attacks and seize the initiative. This is now approximately the 30th time I've stood on the top step of the podium here at the Nürburgring, but this victory was really something special."

Florian Stoll (#24 kfzteile24 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), winner: "We've had a long hard journey over the past two years, and at last it seems we're on the up. I hope we can now maintain this level, but it's not going to be easy. Our Audi is running extremely well at the moment. We've been working towards that for a long time."

Edward Sandström (#100 kfzteile24 MS RACING. Audi R8 LMS ultra), second: "The situation in the championship table is starting to look interesting for us after this weekend, because we're now in a position to give a good account of ourselves. This weekend has been a turning point for us, so it's quite exciting to see what we can still achieve. The fun is really about to start."

Daniel Dobitsch (#100 kfzteile24 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), second: "Florian was faster than me in the second stint. I was having problems with the rear axle, and towards the end of the race, the situation with the Porsche was very tight. This has been a fantastic team result."

Klaus Bachler (#36 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), third: "The last pit stop was all our own fault. We took too long changing over , and it was obvious that we were going to lose the lead. But at least Martin got us up to P3, which was some sort of damage limitation. After qualifying for pole position, the result is a bit disappointing, but at least we've closed the gap by ten points."

Martin Ragginger (#36 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), third: "The car was good, and Klaus got off to a great start. I'm satisfied with our performance, and we had a car that was capable of winning, but various incidents got in the way. When you're in a position to win a race, you have to seize the opportunity, and that's what we as a team failed to do this weekend. Now we have to learn our lessons from this so that the same situation doesn't arise again."

Andreas Weishaupt (#3 C.Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), winner in Gentlemen class: "I was surprised that I manage to keep up with the front-runners so well immediately after the driver changeover, but it was obvious that it wouldn't last. I think that I acquitted myself well and made an impression. I'm very satisfied with this result. Wet conditions are my forte. Anyway, I'm now looking forward to the Sachsenring."

Marc Gassner (#23 MRS GT-Racing, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3), second in Gentlemen class: "At last, a weekend on which we've been allowed to drive from Session 1 through to the end of Race 2 without some problem or other cropping up. The more I drive, the better it gets, because I'm learning all the time. Initially, it wasn't easy, but since then, I've been able to consistently improve my pace."

Remo Lips (#13 RWT RacingTeam, Corvette Z06.R GT3), third in Gentlemen class: "The weekend has been catastrophic. Yesterday, I skidded off the track, and that was still at the back of my mind today. At least we got the car over the finish line this time and scored a few points. But I'm not satisfied."

Florian Strauss (#23 MRS GT-Racing, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3), eighth: "The safety car period at the start of the race went on for a long time and cost us the time at the end where we might have made some progress. I lost several places at the start of the race in battle with the ROWE Mercedes, but after that, it went OK up to the driver changeover, and the pit stop also went well."

Daniel Keilwitz (#66 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), retired: "That was a weekend to forget. We got spun round three times in the two races without the stewards doing anything about it. That's a big disappointment."

Sebastian Asch (#21 Team Zakspeed, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), Rang 10: "After this weekend, I hope that we've now used up our share of bad luck for the season. The races themselves weren't too bad, and we did at least score a point. We've only lost ten points to the Porsche, which isn't a disaster. On the next race weekend, we'll be back with our usual cool."
