ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the race: Reactions from the paddock after the ninth race of the season

Edward Sandström (#100 kfzteile24 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), Winner: "Obviously, our victory is bittersweet, but a win is still a win. It's not nice to win a race when other drivers make a mistake, but rules are rules. They apply to everyone. It would have been better to have achieved the win out on track."

Daniel Dobitsch (#100 kfzteile24 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), Winner: "A win is a win, even if we won today as a result of race stewards' deliberations at the green table. I would like to have finished on the top rung of the podium, so we still have a goal to meet and will continue the fight to achieve it. The race was action-packed, and apparently in the race, some opponents didn't realise that we were still under the safety car. The rules are clear, and it's good too that they are implemented. I feel very sorry for Nicki and Jordan Lee, but that's just how it is in racing sometimes."

Philip Geipel (#16 YACO, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P2: "It's nice to be back on the podium. I last took a podium back in 2011, here at the Nürburgring. We've achieved a great result. Rahel didn't show any sign of nerves in the rain on slicks. It was like riding on a cannonball on the slicks and on the borderline. Conditions were very changeable for a time during my stint, then, in the last five minutes, I was able to attack. The situation with the two BMWs was very unfortunate."

Rahel Frey (#16 YACO Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), P2: "It was a roller-coaster. The safety car helped us out a bit on my stint. A drying track towards the end also played into our hands. It was a giant game of poker which ultimately paid off, but it was sometimes very difficult to keep the car on the road. Still, luck was on our side today."

Alexander Mattschull (#33 CarCollection Motorsport, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), Winner, Gentlemen class: "The weather conditions helped us move forwards today, and our debut in this very strong series went perfectly. I drove the car in the wet for the first time, and it was a great adventure. I had to learn first and didn't want to make any mistakes."

Renger van der Zande (#33 CarCollection Motorsport, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), P8: "We had to sort everything out completely for our first weekend in the series, because the series and the tyres are new to us. Obviously, we were not familiar with the wet weather tyres either. Alex made great progress this weekend in every session and the team had a great strategy. A few opponents were a bit faster in the final stages, but we stayed calm and secured victory in the Gentlemen class at the finish line."

Marc Gassner (#23 MRS GT-Racing, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3), P2, Gentlemen class: "This result is more a case of damage limitation, because I was fourth for a time in the initial phases of the race. Then we were unlucky with the weather and our tactics, plus, we lost a lot of time in the pits. Ultimately, I placed second in the Gentlemen class, so you have to be happy with that."

Florian Strauss (#22 MRS GT-Racing, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3), P10: "We took a gamble on slicks and didn't switch to wets. We were a little disappointed with the decisions and today's weather which didn't go our way. We're now hoping for a better result on Sunday."
