ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the race: What the drivers had to say after the second of two ADAC GT Masters races at Spa

Sebastian Asch (#21 Team Zakspeed, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), winner: "We finally managed an actual race win. We've been waiting for this a long time. It's great that we've been able to show what we and the car are capable of. The season has so far been textbook perfect. Luca produced a strong performance during the start phase to hunt down Bernd Schneider and lay the foundations for victory. We know our car goes well in the rain, and I was certain of a podium on a wet track. As everyone is aware, there is something special about winning in the wet, so it's a very special success."

Luca Ludwig (#21 Team Zakspeed, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3), winner: "That was a super race. We did a great job and were in perfect harmony. In the first half of the race, I was behind Bernd Schneider and significantly faster, but I didn't mount a serious attack because I knew that we would have a good chance later on. This victory gives me a certain sense of satisfaction, because the past two years have not been easy and I've had to put up with some disappointments. It's absolutely fabulous that we're having so much success at the moment. This is a reward for a long fallow period. You just have to believe in yourself and keep going. That's what connects Sebastian and me, so we are especially proud of our win."

Daniel Keilwitz (#66 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), second: "We set the car and the tyres up perfectly for the conditions. At the beginning, there was a lot of water on the track, but after a few laps I myself was surprised at how well things were going. I was able to accelerate, and it was great fun taking the car into the lead. We certainly weren't expecting to come second. A win would have been nice, but at least we drove to the finish and didn't have to drop out five laps from the end."

Andreas Wirth (# 66 Callaway Competition, Corvette Z06.R GT3), second: "I think we can be satisfied with the result. Asch was fast, and I couldn't hold him off. The Corvette hasn't been designed as a wet-weather car, so in the circumstances, that was a good result. Now we're really regretting those 50 points we missed out on due to the DNFs at Oschersleben and the Red Bull Ring. Still, we're not giving up and we're looking to the future."

Florian Stoll (#24 kfzteile24 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), third: "Third place is the end of a long dry spell and also of our learning phase. Our performance is on an upwards curve. Step by step, we are making progress and going in the right direction. Now I'm looking forward to the Lausitzring which is a track that suits me."

Marc Basseng (#24 kfzteile24 MS RACING, Audi R8 LMS ultra), third: "I am very happy about my first podium with the team. The conditions were extremely difficult. I was annoyed when the first start was abandoned, because we had fitted rain tyres. I never expected it to go right anyway. But with safety being paramount, it was the right decision to call it off. Then it was a bit chaotic on the early laps of the race. I had an unfortunate run-in with my team-mate. But it wasn't intentional, and it's the sort of thing that can happen. Considering we started from eleventh on the grid, this third position is the maximum we could have got."

Andreas Weishaupt (# 3 C.Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), winner in Gentlemen class: "I got hit quite badly by a BMW on the last lap, and we need to look into that. It cost me three places, but the thing that matters most to me is the Gentlemen competition, and that went very well. I was very pleased with my lap times in the rain. I even managed to keep up with some of the top drivers."

Christer Jöns (#3 C.Abt Racing, Audi R8 LMS ultra), ninth: "At the start, the conditions were very difficult - we could hardly see anything at all. It was the correct decision to prolong the formation laps. I'm glad that we made good progress through the field at the beginning. It was by no means easy in the middle of the race either, because the rain started to fall again and there was a lot of aquaplaning. It was once again the right decision to deploy the safety car. Anyway, we achieved our objective of winning the Gentlemen class. I drove the fastest race lap, which is very satisfying."

Remo Lips (#13 RWT Racing Team, Corvette Z06.R GT3), second in Gentlemen class: "This was our first rain-affected race of the year, so I had to find my rhythm to begin with. Our pace was quite OK. Unfortunately, we just missed taking the win in the Gentlemen class, but it was a good race apart from that."

Dominic Jöst (#22 MRS GT-Racing, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3), third in Gentlemen class: "My compliments to the team. The crew worked solidly for 48 hours after we hit problems and changed the wiring loom twice on our Nissan. The GT-R ran without a hitch today. The weather was a disaster. You almost had to feel your way around the track. These laps today were our first in the wet in the Nissan, so the result was good."

Florian Scholze (#22 MRS GT-Racing, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3), third in Gentlemen class: "It was our first time out today with the Nissan in the wet. On the first few laps, it was more like a test session in which you had to find the racing line. I would've liked to have a couple of more laps, but the race ended. All in all, the weekend was not what we expected. Third place goes some way towards compensating."

Klaus Bachler (# 36 GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), eighth: "The front windscreen kept getting covered, and we could hardly see a thing. Conditions were very poor, but we still took a point, which is probably all that we could have hoped for."
