The dress rehearsal for the ADAC GT Masters has got underway. No fewer than 18 supercars are taking part in the official two-day pre-season tests arranged by the ADAC GT Masters at etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben for Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Getting off to a cracking start after the winter break on Wednesday morning were Callaway Competition. During the 90-minute session, Daniel Keilwitz and Andreas Wirth continued where they left off at the end of last season at Hockenheim - topping the timesheets. The Corvette duo set a lap of 01:27.346 minutes, 0.308 seconds faster than one of the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3s entered by MRS GT Racing. The third and fourth spots were claimed by two BMW Z4 GT3s prepared by Schubert Motorsport and driven by Dominik Baumann, Claudia Hürtgen and Jens Klingmann .
Defending champion Kelvin van der Linde, who is this year sharing the cockpit of his C Abt Racing Audi 8 LMS ultra with Stefan Wackerbauer, recorded the fifth-fastest time: "It's great to be back behind the wheel again. But I had forgotten how difficult the track here in Oschersleben can be, and I had to re-familiarise myself with various combinations of turns. The new Pirelli tyres make a positive impression. I found out that the cornering speed is much higher than in the previous year, plus the tyres seem to be a little more hard-wearing."
Edward Sandström in another Audi R8 LMS ultra (kfzteile24 MS RACING) came in sixth ahead of a Bentley Continental GT3 entered by HTP Motorsport.
The ADAC GT Masters tests on Wednesday are spread over four sessions amounting to a total four hours. Testing continues on Wednesday afternoon. The etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is open to fans on both days. Day tickets cost €5 and are available only from the ticket office at the track.
