ADAC GT Masters·8.4.2015

Fastest time goes to Audi at Oschersleben: Defending champion van der Linde posts fastest lap on first day of testing

The reigning champion reported back for duty from his winter break with the fastest lap of the day. Kelvin van der Linde driving an Audi R8 LMS ultra entered by C.Abt Racing finished the first of two test days on top of the timesheets in the official ADAC GT Masters pre-season warm-up at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Van der Linde, whose campaign partner for 2015 is Stefan Wackerbauer, set the fastest lap of the day in the third and final test session on Wednesday afternoon with a time of 01:27.096 minutes. The South African emerged from the 60-minute slot 0.384 seconds ahead of the Schubert Motorsport BMW Z4 GT3 driven by Jens Klingmann.

No fewer than 18 teams are taking advantage of the chance to prepare for the season opener at Oschersleben (weekend of 26th to 28th April), spending up to four hours out on the track today. The fastest time in the first session on Wednesday morning was set by the Corvette GT3 Z06.R driven by Andreas Wirth and Daniel Keilwitz; this also remained on the board as second fastest overall. In the second session in the early afternoon, the best time was recorded by the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG of Hari Proczyk and Andreas Simonsen, entered by the new HP Motorsport team led by Hari Proczyk.

Not only was the Audi R8 with the champion´s starting number 1 impressive on Day 1; the other R8s also acquitted themselves well. The fourth-fastest time on Wednesday went to the Audi of Andreas Weishaupt and Christer Jöns ahead of the R8 driven by Edward Sandström (kfzteile24 MS RACING Team).

Sixth fastest on Wednesday was Dominic Jöst in the new Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 entered by MRS GT-Racing: "The Nissan is a great car, easy and pleasant drive. I feel really good in the Nissan, as my good lap time probably confirms." After getting off to a great start in the morning, Jöst and Scholze had to drop out of the other two sessions due to technical problems. The same fate befell Strauss and Dolby in the second MRS Nissan.

The official pre-season continues on Thursday with three more sessions spread over four hours. The etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben is once again open to fans on Thursday. Day tickets cost €5 and are available only from the ticket office at the track.
