In the week that the seventh season of GT Academy goes live on Gran Turismo 6, two of the winners of the German iteration of the competition that turns gamers into racers are preparing for the start of the ADAC GT Masters season.
2013 winner Florian Strauss has already proved his place as a NISMO Athlete, not least by winning the Bathurst 12 Hour earlier this year. Joining Strauss in the Molitor Racing Systems (MRS) No.23 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 is Marc Gassner, the winner of the 2014 competition.
"Even though this is only my second-ever season as a professional racing driver, I hope I can contribute to the team and my driver colleagues with some important information about the Nissan GT-R", said Strauss. "I competed in three 24 hours races last year as well as in the Blancpain Endurance Series, therefore the layout of the ADAC GT Masters is totally new to me. But I do think we have a great package and I am very excited about our first race."
As Strauss and Gassner start their new racing season this weekend at Oschersleben, thousands of gamers across the globe will be competing to win a their place at GT Academy Race Camp, either via Gran Turismo 6 or at one of the many live events in coming weeks. The life-changing competition that sees gamers become become real-life racing drivers is now in 24 countries, split into three main competitions: Europe, Asia and International. With the first winner, Lucas Ordonez now competing in Super GT and LM P1 and 2012 winner Jann Mardenborough racing in GP3 and LM P1, the dream job exists and is there for the taking!
