Party time for ADAC GT Masters drivers. A number of successful ADAC GT Masters drivers received their awards on Saturday at the traditional end-of-year celebrations organised by Mercedes-AMG and Porsche. The Mercedes-Benz Stars & Cars event in Stuttgart was the setting for the AMG Customer Sports awards ceremony. ADAC GT Masters champions Luca Ludwig and Sebastian Asch received their reward for winning the Super Sports Car League title in the Mercedes-Benz Arena Stuttgart.
On Saturday night, Porsche invited its most successful drivers to the Night of the Champions in the casino of the research and development centre at Weissach, just a few kilometres away from Stuttgart. ADAC GT Masters drivers have played a major role in the Porsche Cup over the past few years. The Porsche Cup trophy has been presented to top Porsche privateers since 1970. Things were no different again this year, as Klaus Bachler finished fourth overall in the drivers' standings of the 2015 ADAC GT Masters and placed second in the class for privateers behind Scotsman Ryan Dalziel. Bachler received a cheque for 30,000 euros.
By way of contrast, Audi driver Nicki Thiim was covered in sweat at the weekend and not partying. The Dane completed his last race of the year on Saturday. He joined the party on the podium in third place at the 12-Hours of Sepang in Malaysia along with Markus Winkelhock and Nicki Mayr-Melnhof in the new Audi R8 LMS prepared by Phoenix Racing.
