The successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is about to hit the scene. Mercedes AMG have announced their intention to premiere the GT3 racing version of the new sports car at the Geneva Motor Show (March 5th-15th). The launch of the racing version will coincide with the debut of the new sports car, powered by a 4.0 litre V8 biturbo engine.
The model that is set to succeed the gullwing SLS AMG will compete out on track next year after a period of testing and development. During the 2015 season, Mercedes-Benz customer teams will continue to field the SLS AMG GT3 in their fight for victory in the ADAC GT Masters.
The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, the first racing car developed for customer teams by the three-pointed star brand, has seen duty in the ADAC GT Masters since 2011. In the previous four years, the Mercedes-Benz won six ADAC GT Masters races, started from pole position seven times, winning both driver and team standings in 2012.
