ADAC GT Masters·1.7.2015

Notes ahead of the Lausitzring: News and notes in the run-up to the fourth ADAC GT Masters weekend

- Hot - cool - very hot. Temperatures at the ADAC GT Masters are on a rollercoaster this year. The 32 degrees at the Red Bull Ring were followed by 12 degrees and rain in Spa-Francorchamps. The weather forecast for the Lausitzring weekend again predicts high summer temperatures in excess of 35 degrees.

- Reiter Engineering will miss the fourth race weekend at the Lausitzring after their car was declared a total write-off last time out in Spa-Francorchamps. The short interval between the third and fourth race weekends of the season did not leave enough time for repairs to the #25 Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX.

- Jakub Knoll and Andreas Simonsen are back in the cockpit at the Lausitzring after a one-race break. Knoll will share the Senkyr BMW Z4 GT3 with Lennart Marioneck, Andreas Simonsen will take his place again at the side of Hari Proczyk in the HP Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.

- The Special Touring Car Trophy (STT) is to be held for the first time this year at the Lausitzring under the ADAC GT Masters banner. The touring car and GT series will again be staged as part of the Super Sports Car League at the Sachsenring, in Zandvoort and at the finale at Hockenheim. ADAC Formula 4 and the DTC DMSB / ADAC Procar are also on the programme, along with the historic Haigo series, featuring touring cars and single-seater racing cars from the former Eastern bloc.

- Sebastian Asch is currently on top form. He leads the standings in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3. A fresh challenge faces Asch on July 12th when the 29-year-old lines up in a Porsche 911 RSR fielded by Proton Competition to contest the European Le Mans Series at the Red Bull Ring in Austria together with Porsche works driver Richard Lietz and Christian Ried.

- Nicki Thiim is also enjoying a run of successes. He placed fourth recently with Jordan Lee Pepper at Spa-Francorchamps, achieving their best result of the season so far in the Audi R8 LMS ultra. Plus, he won both Porsche Carrera Cup Germany races last weekend at the Norisring.

- Apart from Thiim, Edward Sandström and Rahel Frey were also kept busy in Nuremberg. Sandström drove Audi's race taxi at the Norisring, posting demo laps in the Audi R8 LMS with which he won the ADAC Zurich 24h-race at the Nürburgring in May.

- Thiim had only a short break in between ADAC GT Masters weekends. He took part in preparatory testing for the 24-Hours of Spa at the circuit along with Florian Strauss, Edward Sandström and Fabian Hamprecht just three days after the ADAC GT Masters event at Spa-Francorchamps.

- A new supercar is already casting its ultra-quick shadow. On Saturday, Mercedes-AMG completed the first test run for the new GT3 in the ADAC World Peace Trophy at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The successor to the SLS AMG GT3 will be delivered to customer teams in time for the start of the 2016 season after undergoing a successful period of testing and development.

- Travel note: Fans arriving from Dresden on the A13 should use Junction 16 / Schwarzheide, as Junction 15 / Klettwitz is still closed due to road works. Leaving the motorway at Klettwitz coming from Berlin is possible, but travel to Berlin is only possible via Junction 14 / Grossräschen.

- Events for fans at the Lausitzring: The Meet the Drivers autograph session takes place at 2:00 pm on Saturday in the paddock in front of the ADAC Hospitality. The 'pit walk' is from 9:50-10:15 am on Saturday and from 10:00-10:20 am on Sunday.
