Notes from the Hockenheim finale : Bits and pieces from the ADAC GT Masters finale in Hockenheim

- More than 18,000 fans came through the gates over the weekend at the ADAC GT Masters/ADAC Formel 4 finale in Hockenheim.

- The final weekend ended on Sunday evening with a closing ceremony and an awards presentation for the ADAC GT Masters, ADAC Formula 4, Renault Clio Cup and Formula Renault NEC Central Europe 2.0. When the celebrations ended in the early hours of the morning, C.Abt Racing decided on the spur of the moment to reopen the Schnitzelalm and hold an 'after-hours' session.

- Torsten Schubert was loudly applauded at the awards ceremony. After receiving the trophy from ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk for winning the team standings, he made a request to his fellow competitors to step up the constructive dialogue about the future of the series next year that was started earlier this year by all the teams.

- The ADAC GT Masters season may be over, but some teams and drivers still have racing commitments. HP Racing and Senkyr Motorsport will line up this weekend in a long-distance race at Brno. Callaway Competition will be at the Nürburgring, while Bentley driver Tom Dillmann will contest the GP2 series in Sochi.

- Norbert Vettel, father of four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, was again at this year's ADAC GT Masters finale. Vettel Snr is a regular visitor to the ADAC GT Masters in Hockenheim.

- Four touring cars in the paddock gave fans a glimpse of the new ADAC TCR Germany which is to be launched in 2016 as part of the ADAC GT Masters. A Volkswagen Golf TCR, Seat Leon TCT, Honda Civic and a Subaru Impreza were displayed by Engstler Motorsport. The VW and Seat posted demo laps on Sunday lunchtime.

- During the penultimate race weekend in Zandvoort, the Mercedes-Benz of Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig had an unfortunate encounter with a seagull in the race. The gullwing came out on top. In a show of black humour at the finale in Hockenheim, Zakspeed celebrated their victory over the seabird with a sticker on the front of the car.

- AMG boss Tobias Moers was also at the Hockenheim finale. Moers and Customer Sports Director Jochen Bitzer watched the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 drive to a second title win in the ADAC GT Masters.

- Many drivers have already successfully made the move up from various ADAC formula racing series for juniors to GT racing. Drivers like Dominik Baumann, Maximilian Buhk and Klaus Bachler successfully made the switch to GT racing after achieving success in the Formel ADAC. Newly-crowned ADAC Formula 4 champion Marvin Dienst is also interested in switching to GT racing and reached this week's final round in the selection process to join Porsche's programme for juniors. The name of the driver who will be sponsored by the sports car manufacturer next year will be announced soon.

- C.Abt Racing achieved a first in the ADAC GT Masters at Hockenheim. After taking two titles in a row in the team championship and victory in the 2014 drivers' championship, the Audi team celebrated their third championship win on the trot with the Gentlemen title secured by Andreas Weishaupt.

- Audi consolidated their position as the marque with the most wins in the ADAC GT Masters by securing a double victory in Hockenheim. The R8 LMS and R8 LMS ultra have so far achieved 26 race wins between them. The Corvette is in second place with 23 victories.

- Florian Stoll, Daniel Dobitsch and Dominik Baumann reached a special milestone in Hockenheim. All three drivers took part in their 40th race weekend in the ADAC GT Masters at Hockenheim. Hockenheim marked the end of their fifth season in the ADAC GT Masters for the two Austrians and the winner of two races from the Black Forest.
