Paddock radar from the Nürburgring: Ralf Schumacher guests as SPORT1 commentator of ADAC Formula 4

Rally action delights GT fans: The ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team stopped off in the Eifel on Sunday on their way to ADAC Rallye Deutschland which starts next weekend in the area around Trier. ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Marijan Griebel and newly crowned European junior rally champion Emil Bergkvist from Sweden had fans cheering just before the start of the ADAC GT Masters race, as they drifted in their Opel ADAM R2.

Media event in Schumacher´s restaurant: Invited as guests to ex-former Formula 1 and DTM driver´s restaurant – to get a foretaste of the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring, the ADAC invited journalists and TV partner SPORT1 to a media event on Thursday evening in Ralf Schumacher´s Restaurant in Bergheim; Schumacher has run a restaurant there for almost a year. ADAC GT Masters championship leaders Luca Ludwig and Sebastian Asch and ADAC Sports Foundation protégé Tim Zimmermann ‘warmed´ up the journalists for the race weekend. Ralf Schumacher, now in his fifth year as patron of the ADAC Kart Masters and member of the ADAC Sports Foundation Board of Trustees as of this year, gave an account of his involvement in the promotion of young talent.

Schumacher commentates ADAC Formula 4: Schumacher also attended the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring on Saturday. Aided by Patrick Simon, Schumacher commentated the first ADAC Formula 4 race and presented two trophies at the awards ceremony.

Bruno Spengler attends ADAC GT Masters: Former DTM champion and BMW works driver Bruno Spengler stopped by the Super Sports Car League. The Canadian came to the Eifel at the invitation of ADAC GT Masters series partner RaceRoom and also presented trophies to the best young racing drivers at the ADAC Formula 4 awards ceremony.

New RaceRoom website: The ADAC GT Masters Experience, the official video game of the Super Sports Car League developed by series partner RaceRoom, has been delighting fans since its introduction at the end of last year. On the new RaceRoom website at http://portal.raceroom.com/, gamers can now enjoy a comprehensive insight into the fascinating RaceRoom racing simulations which former ADAC GT Masters champion Daniel Keilwitz also uses to prepare for races.

Birthday in the Eifel: Henning Meyerhoff, Director of Sales at Postcon, partner of the ADAC GT Masters and ADAC Classic, celebrated his birthday in fine style. The Postcon manager spent his birthday in the Eifel on Sunday and watched the tenth ADAC GT Masters race of the season.

To the ADAC GT Masters courtesy of Certina: Certina, official timing partner of the ADAC GT Masters, was at the Nürburgring for the first time with a stand in the paddock. Fans were able to spin the wheel-of-fortune to win VIP weekends at the ADAC GT Masters and learn about the range of watches produced by Certina.

Simon drives new Audi R8: Patrick Simon, who commentates the ADAC GT Masters live broadcasts for SPORT1 with Jan Stecker, could be seen in the paddock on Friday, grinning from ear to ear. For the track presentation on SPORT1, Simon drove the Audi R8, in which Edward Sandström won the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race in May at the Nürburgring along with a number of other drivers. The original winning car was then exhibited in front of the ADAC Hospitality in the paddock and was much photographed by fans.

Nürburgring as meeting place: Many former ADAC GT Masters drivers used the race at the Nürburgring as an opportunity to stop by the Super Sports Car League once again. Current DTM driver Maximilian Götz, Maximilian Buhk, Christopher Mies and Christian Bracke were among those who came to the Eifel. 2008 ADAC GT Masters champion Tim Bergmeister also dropped in at the Nürburgring with son, Jacob, who races in the ADAC Kart Masters.

Simon barbecues: SPORT1 TV commentator Patrick Simon continued a fine tradition at the Nürburgring. As is now customary, Simon took his place behind the barbecue and invited TV colleagues to enjoy beer and bratwurst.
