Markus Palttala is a world known GT driver and this year´s winner of the 24h Spa and he is going to race with a Czech racing squad Senkyr Motorsport this weekend in ADAC GT Masters at Sachsenring.
Markus, tell us how this deal was made?
Markus Palttala: "Robert and I have been talking for a long time, both of us wanting to find a way to work together. It was close that I raced for the team at the Spa round of ADAC GT Masters, but then Marc VDS decided to do a different race and I was unfortunately not free that weekend. Robert then needed a driver for Sachsenring and I´m happy I finally get to race for Senkyr Motorsport and return to ADAC GT Masters.
You know BMW Z4 GT3 as your shoes but what do you know about ADAC GT or Senkyr Motorsport?
My last participation in ADAC GT was in 2009 in a Ford GT. That was a short weekend when my teammate crashed in first practice and we didn´t get to race. Since then I have followed the series and seen it progress into one of the most competitive championships out there. I´ve followed Senkyr from the beginning of this season and caught up with Robert after most of the races.
You are going to race at Sachsenring. How do you like this track?
I have actually never raced at the Sachsenring so it will be a new experience for me! I´ve always wanted to race there because it looks like a great track with a lot of elevation changes and high-speed corners. I also think that it will suit the strong points of the BMW Z4 GT3 very well, so although everything is new to me and I have a lot of catching up to do in a short time, I think we have a good chance to have a positive weekend.
What you mean about ADAC GT Masters in "world of GT Racing"?
ADAC GT Masters is without a doubt one of the toughest GT series in the world. The level is really high with a very competitive field of teams, cars and drivers. As a sprint series, I think it´s the number one at the moment. I´ve spent the last few years in international endurance series such as BES, WEC and TUSCC, so I´m really happy to return to sprint racing, which is quite different.
