Schubert BMW kicks off session with best time: Baumann and Klingmann post best time in first practice

Dominik Baumann and Jens Klingmann made a strong start to the seventh and penultimate race weekend of the ADAC GT Masters in the Netherlands. Placed third in the standings, they took best time for the BMW Z4 GT3 (BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert) in the first free practice session early this morning. Baumann and Klingmann set best time ten minutes before the end of the 60-minute session consigning the two Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX of Tomas Enge/Jaap van Lagen and Albert von Thurn und Taxis/Nick Catsburg (all Reiter Engineering) to second and third place respectively with a lead of 0.347 seconds.

"The car is fast. We benefited from a test here last week and from using a fresh set of Pirellis. Now we'll have to see what our opponents can do," said Baumann after first practice.

The Audi R8 LMS ultras of Andreas Weishaupt/Christer Jöns (C.Abt Racing), Florian Stoll/Marc Basseng and Daniel Dobitsch/Edward Sandström (all kfzteile24 MS RACING) were also quick in Zandvoort, finishing fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh. Championship leaders Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 (Team Zakspeed) booked seventh position ahead of an Audi driven by Philip Geipel/Rahel Frey (YACO Racing).

Andreas Wirth/Daniel Keilwitz in the fastest Corvette Z06.R GT3 (Callaway Competition) placed ninth ahead of the winners at the Sachsenring, Stefan Wackerbauer/Kelvin van der Linde in the Audi R8 LMS ultra (C.Abt Racing). Klaus Bachler/Martin Ragginger in the Porsche 911 GT3 R (GW IT Racing Team Schütz Motorsport) were twelfth.
