Sebastian Asch (AMG - Team Zakspeed, Mercedes-AMG GT3), winner in general classification: "Finally things have gone right for me at the Sachsenring. After scoring some decent results here, today I've got the victory. We may not have started from P1 on the grid, but at the finish we were out ahead, and that's what really matters. The start didn't go all that well. I shut the door on the inside but then got overtaken on the outside. After that, I was in a group of cars jostling for position and had to pull back. The safety car deployment during the pit stop window obviously played into our hands."
Luca Ludwig (AMG - Team Zakspeed, Mercedes-AMG GT3), winner in general classification: "Those last few laps put in by Sebastian (Asch) were very strong - they enabled us to make up a lot of time on our opponents. After the safety car period, we were in the lead. I gave it everything I'd got to hang on to the position, and it all worked out fine. The season is going pretty well for us so far. Two race wins are all well and good, but we want to push for the top of the table. The second race presents a new opportunity."
Christopher Mies (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P2: "Broadly speaking, we can feel satisfied with that. Finishing second after starting from eighth is of course a good outcome. We benefited from the safety car deployment; otherwise this would not have been possible. The car is running well, and we still retain our championship lead. But the Mercedes is really strong at the moment."
Daniel Dobitsch (kfzteile24 - APR Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P3: "Things didn't go too well for us at Oschersleben. After our race accident, the car was quite badly damaged and we had to rebuild it. Anyway, that worked out well. It makes P3 all the more satisfying. My start went well. I advanced from 18th to twelfth. There were some minor incidents which I got through OK. Then, during the pit stop window, I saw the Porsche stranded in the gravel and I radioed that through to my team. We hoped that the safety car would come out - and that's exactly what happened. Our pit stop was then well timed. We have made up here for the bad luck we experienced in the season opener."
Daniel Keilwitz (Callaway Competition, Corvette C7 GT3), P4: "Jules (Gounon) got off to a fantastic start. For a long time, we were in second place. Unfortunately, the safety car deployment during the pit stop window ruined our race. Otherwise, we would have been in with a good chance of winning. So fourth place comes as only a limited consolation. Towards the end, I was trying everything to attack third place."
Fabian Hamprecht (Bentley Team ABT, Bentley Continental GT3), P5: "Our primary aim was to finish in one piece and score points. And that's what we did. So I'm happy about that. Finishing fifth after starting from 13th on the grid is quite a charge up field. It's balm on our wounds for the team after we were so unlucky at Oschersleben. At the start, I unfortunately moved out of position slightly, for which I was handed a pit stop penalty. Otherwise, we might have managed third place."
Guy Smith (Bentley Team ABT, Bentley Continental GT3), P5: "I feel really at home in the ADAC GT Masters. I watched the races in 2015 and saw just how competitive the series is. We have great drivers and fast cars here, as well as interesting tracks, some of which I don't know yet. The Sachsenring is really exciting with its uphill and downhill sections. We weren't all that satisfied with our qualifying. But finishing in fifth place despite the penalty was obviously a super result."
Luca Stolz (GRT Grasser Racing Team, Lamborghini Huracán GT3), P7: "You could describe that race as a bit stupid. We had been hoping that the safety car wouldn't come out onto the track during the pit stop window. As a result, others benefited while we were the losers, dropping back from first to tenth. The fact that we still made good a couple of positions before the end shows that we are very strong here. We will go on all-out attack again on Sunday."
