ADAC GT Masters: Comments at the end of Day One: Observations from the paddock after the free practice sessions

Luca Ludwig (AMG-Team Zakspeed, Mercedes-AMG GT3): "Our car felt good, and I managed to put in a near-perfect lap. But free practice is normally not an accurate yardstick. It's certainly going to be a lot tighter in qualifying and in the races. Having said that, posting the best time is always a terrific motivational factor. Our objective this weekend is to get a good result. Mathematically, we can still win the championship, but it's a long shot."

Steve Feige (Aust Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS): "I feel really good in my new team of Aust Motorsport. However, I still have to get used to the Audi R8 LMS. My team-mate Bas Schothorst and I haven't set ourselves any specific target for this weekend. All I want to do is gain some experience with the Audi so that I can hopefully drive one in next year's ADAC GT Masters."

Lucas Mauron (Callaway Competition, Corvette C7 GT3-R): "Those were my first competitive kilometres in a GT3 car today. Amazing! It all went quite well, but it's a big change from the Porsche Sports Cup, which was the last series I drove in. It's great that Callaway have offered me this opportunity. It's something new for me and hopefully represents the future. I would be proud to compete in the ADAC GT Masters on a regular basis."

Jules Gounon (Callaway Competition, Corvette C7 GT3-R): "Despite the special circumstances of a title bid here, we're trying to make this weekend 'business as usual'. I'm doing my best to blank out the table. Let's see what the weather does on the first day of real racing. Rain has been forecast, which wouldn't really suit our game plan. But come rain or shine, we just have to race and see how it turns out. If we end up champions, that would be fabulous, but if we finish as runners-up, it would still have been a fantastic season."

Stéphane Ortelli (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS): "I'm delighted to have been given a seat for the ADAC GT Masters. The standard of this series is very high. I already know the Audi from a couple of previous races, but despite that I still have to get used to the new features all over again. I'm entering this series at the grand finale stage, so obviously all the other drivers will be far more advanced. But I'm going to do my very best to help our team-mates win the championship."

Connor De Phillippi (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS): "The car already feels pretty good. With a few changes here and there, we should be able to get the maximum out of the two days of racing. We now have to wait and see how we stand compared to our opponents. We hope that it rains on Saturday - that would increase our chances. But instead of looking to the weather, we should be relying on what we're capable of, namely preparing the car as thoroughly as possible and then giving it everything we've got in qualifying and in the races themselves."

Fabian Hamprecht (Bentley Team ABT, Bentley Continental GT3): "In free practice, we experimented with various setups and tried to identify the best one. The car is running quite well so far. We just want to end this season with a decent result."

Rahel Frey (YACO Racing, Audi R8 LMS): "It's not going too badly at this stage. We're still lacking a bit of grip. On Saturday and Sunday, we need to put everything we've learnt into practice as best we can. Rain wouldn't be at all bad - that's what helped us to secure our victory on the recent race weekend at Zandvoort."
