Founded in 2006, the team based in Langenhagen Lower Saxony has made a name for itself primarily through success in Porsche one-make cups. Attempto Racing have also been active in GT3 since 2010. After making the occasional guest appearance in the ADAC GT Masters over the past few years, the team now intend to line up for the first time in all races in the Super Sports Car League in 2016.
They decided to field the Lamborghini Huracán in races. Team principal Arkin Aka gave us his reasons for the decision to use two models of the brand-new sports car, saying: "We were immediately impressed by the Huracán. It offers a mix of German and Italian technology. The first tests were very promising"
The teams of drivers have also now been decided. Attempto Racing intend to field young talents exclusively. Emil Lindholm (19, Finland) and André Gies (22, Braunschweig) will share the drive in the first Lambo. The pair won through in a selection procedure organised by Attempto Racing in conjunction with the ADAC Lower Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt regional club. Lindholm actually comes from Finland but lives in Eickeloh close to Hannover, Lower Saxony. Last year, he placed fifth overall in both the ADAC Opel Rally Cup and the Audi Sport TT Cup. Team-mate Gies has gained experience in a number of series, including the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup.
Another young driver pairing will take the wheel of the second Lamborghini Huracán GT3, namely Patric Niederhauser (24, CH) and Daniel Zampieri (25, I). 24-year-old Patric Niederhauser from Bern lined up in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo last year and his good results led to acceptance on the Lamborghini Young Driver Programme. Born in Rome, Zampieri won the GT Open in 2014. Attempto Racing have signed 20-year-old Nils Ballerstein as test driver.
