Class winners Assenheimer and Ineichen: Results from the Junior and Trophy classifications at the Lausitzring

The Junior class in the fifth race of the season saw a new face on the top rung of the podium. By finishing third overall, Corvette driver Patrick Assenheimer also posted a victory in the category for drivers under 25 years of age. "The race began well for me, and the start itself went smoothly," said the Callaway driver. "We started from second place, and I had basically no chance of attacking the Porsche on the way into the first corner, so I had to slot in behind him. For the next few laps, I had to defend my position against various opponents. I managed to do that and handed over the car in second place. During the pit stop, however, there was an unfortunate misunderstanding with two stopwatches. We decided to play it safe by not going out on track too early and incurring another penalty like we did at the Sachsenring. The result was that we lost some time, which ultimately cost us second place. But never mind - it's better to finish third than outside the podium positions. So I'm more than satisfied."

In the Trophy stakes, a familiar figure ascended the top rung of the podium, as Rolf Ineichen won the classification for non-professional drivers for the fourth time in five races. The Swiss amateur, who drives for the Lamborghini outfit of GRT Grasser Racing, was also delighted to have taken second place in the general classification: "That was a really good race for us - we are very happy. I got off to a good start and didn't lose position. Eventually, I managed to overtake the third-placed BMW. The car ran well right through to the end of the race. In fact, my team-mate Christian (Engelhart) was even in with a chance of victory."
