Comeback for Phoenix Racing in ADAC GT Masters: DTM team Phoenix Racing to line up in a new Audi R8 LMS in the ADAC GT Masters

Phoenix Racing are returning to the ADAC GT Masters in 2016. The DTM team led by Ernst Moser will field an Audi R8 LMS and a top-notch pair of drivers in the Super Sports Car League. Ex Formula 1 and DTM driver Markus Winkelhock and former Formula 3 driver Markus Pommer will share the drive in the second generation R8 LMS. While Winkelhock is already a veteran of the series with 36 appearances in the ADAC GT Masters, Pommer is a newcomer to GT racing. However, the 25-year-old from Heilbronn is already very familiar with the environment of the ADAC GT Masters from his time in the ADAC Formula Masters and Formula 3 where he was crowned German Formula 3 Champion in 2014.

Phoenix Racing contested the ADAC GT Masters in 2009 and 2011 and raced again as guest starters at a fixture in 2013. Even in the past, the outfit has run GT cars made by Audi exclusively. The Audi team secured five wins in the ADAC GT Masters in 2009 and 2011. Apart from lining up in the ADAC GT Masters, the team from the Nürburgring will also undertake an extensive programme of long distance racing and will line up for a number of events, including the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race at the Nürburgring.
