So far, all the wins in the first three races of the 2016 ADAC GT Masters season have gone to the same drivers in both the Junior and Trophy standings, but the second race at the Sachsenring changed all of that.
Frenchman Jules Gounon has entered his name in the record books for winners in the class for junior drivers under 25. "What a great weekend," said Gounon. "I never expected to take overall victory and win the Junior class in only my fourth race in the ADAC GT Masters. This was my first time out here at the Sachsenring, and I had a bit of trouble coping with the track in the free practice sessions. Thanks also to Daniel (Keilwitz), who got off to an incredible start. The safety car came out on track shortly before the end of the race, and I thought: 'Oh no', but I remained calm and was able to maintain my lead."
Rolf Ineichen's unbroken run in the Trophy rankings came to an end when Steve Feige claimed the top rung on the podium in the class for amateur drivers for the first time. "Taking my maiden win in the Trophy rankings here at the Sachsenring on my birthday is obviously just amazing," said the MRS GT-Racing driver. "The race was a lot of fun but also very demanding."
