A win for the favourite neatly sums up the success of Jules Gounon in the junior standings in the second ADAC GT Masters race at the Red Bull Ring. Along with teammate Daniel Keilwitz in the Corvette C7 GT3 R prepared by Callaway Competition, the Frenchman took second place overall which equated to his third victory of the season in the category for drivers under 25.
"We've also got to keep a bit of an eye on the overall standings at this moment in time, for sure," said Jules Gounon, who leads the drivers' championship along with Daniel Keilwitz. "When you head the standings, you sometimes have to drive tactically and not take any risks. I learned from the team over the radio that our direct competitors in the battle for the title were a long way behind us. And so, my conscience was clear as I secured second place at the chequered flag."
In the Trophy class, Swiss Corvette driver and championship leader Remo Lips crossed the finish line first in class, but received a 30-second time penalty after the race after a rule infringement at the restart behind the safety car. This handed the class win to Lamborghini driver Rolf Ineichen, who already won the trophy class in the first race. Lips was classified third in class, Mercedes-Benz driver Florian Scholze was promoted to second position.
