Strong new entrant in the ADAC GT Masters, as Land-Motorsport join the Super Sports Car League with Audi. The team led by Wolfgang Land will deploy two new Audi R8 LMS and a squad of four fast drivers. Former ADAC GT Masters championship runner-up Christopher Mies (26, Germany) is returning to the series and will share an Audi with Connor De Phillippi (23, USA).
ADAC GT Masters race winner Marc Basseng (37, Germany) plus newcomer and ex Formel ADAC driver Peter Hoevenaars (20, NL) will share the second R8. "We'll be lining up in the ADAC GT Masters for the first time with two Audi R8s to the Montaplast design. This is a challenge that has got us really fired-up," said team principal Wolfgang Land, speaking about his team's debut in the ADAC GT Masters." The ADAC GT Masters will get the 2016 season under way in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of April 15th-17th.
Land Motorsport will field two Audis that look identical for their debut season in the ADAC GT Masters. The team from Germany's Westerwald region made a strong start to the year in a long distance race this January with Mies, Basseng and De Phillippi, which also augurs well for a good season in the ADAC GT Masters as far as team boss is concerned. "After a perfect performance in our first race with the Audi, we are very confident that our driver pairings will enable us to compete both for victory overall in the ADAC GT Masters and for the rookie title."
All ADAC GT Masters races will once again be broadcast live and in full during 2016 by SPORT1 on free-to-air TV. Germany's leading sports broadcaster has already extended the TV contract up to and including 2017 well before the renewal deadline. The 2016 ADAC GT Masters season opens on the weekend of April 15th-17th, 2016, in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Advance tickets are available online at www.adac.de/motorsport.
