The Audi teams produced another good showing in second practice at the Nürburgring after bringing home six R8 LMS supercars in the Top Eight in the first ADAC GT Masters practice session. Team kfzteile24 APR Motorsport took the day's best time of 1:27.741 minutes with drivers Florian Stoll & Laurens Vanthoor.
The one-hour session began with a heart-stopping moment when Audi driver Kelvin van der Linde spun off track while racing along the short loop, crashing hard into the barriers. Proceedings were stopped for quite some time as marshals reinstated safety features. On the restart, Stoll & Vanthoor played their ace and set the fastest time in the Audi R8 LMS .
Winkelhock and series newcomer Nicolaj Møller Madsen again placed second in the Audi as they had done this morning. The best non-Audi was the BMW M6 GT3 of Jesse Krohn and Louis Delétraz, followed by another Audi driven by the pairing of Christopher Mies & Connor De Phillippi, who had been fastest in first practice. Martin Ragginger & Robert Renauer in the Porsche 911 GT3-R and Fabian Hamprecht & Christer Jöns in the Bentley Continental GT3 completed the Top Six.
Drivers will really get down to business on Saturday morning in a twenty-minute qualifying session at 09:05 when drivers will battle it out for positions on the grid for the first race. SPORT1 will broadcast the fixture live and in its entirety at 13:00 on free-to-air TV.
