Trophy and Junior races at Oschersleben: Ineichen and De Phillippi dominate non-general classifications in the ADAC GT Masters

In addition to the driver and team standings, the ADAC GT Masters also has prizes to win in two further categories this season. The Trophy, formerly known as the Gentlemen class, is a competition for amateur entrants, while the Junior Cup is an opportunity for the under-25s to make their mark.

On the first ADAC GT Masters race weekend of the 2016 campaign at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, Rolf Ineichen (37, CH) was head and shoulders above the opposition. At the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán prepared by GRT Grasser Racing Team, he won the class in both races. In the second race, he went one better by also winning the general classification together with team-mate Christian Engelhart (29, DEU). Andreas Weishaupt (43, DEU, Bentley Team ABT) in a Bentley Continental GT3 and Remo Lips (33, CH, RWT Racing) in a Corvette GT3 Z.06R took second and third respectively.

In the Junior Cup, Connor De Phillippi (23, USA, Montaplast by Land-Motorsport) emerged as the big winner from the Oschersleben fixture. Partnered by Christopher Mies (26, DEU) in an Audi R8 LMS, he claimed two runner-up spots to take the lead in both the 2016 ADAC GT Masters championship and the Junior Cup. Also putting in strong performances were Nikolaj Rogivue (19, CH, AMG Team Zakspeed) and Patrick Assenheimer (23, DEU, Callaway Competition) who now occupy the second and third spots in the Junior table.
