ADAC GT Masters: Comments after free practice: The drivers sum up their day at Oschersleben

Klaus Bachler (Schütz Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "That was a good day. I’m very pleased to be back in the ADAC GT Masters. We had two good training sessions during which we tried out several things for qualifying as well as for the race itself. But we won’t know where we really stand until the quali, because every team was running a different programme today."

Christopher Mies (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS): "The day went well for us – we were second fastest twice. We just concentrated on what we wanted to do and worked our way through the scheduled programme. Now we have to show the same good form tomorrow in qualifying to make sure we are optimally placed for the race."

Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG GT3): "Unfortunately, there were several red flags in the second session. Nevertheless, we managed to get through our programme. I think we are in good shape for tomorrow, but I also reckon we can squeeze a bit more out of the car."

Sebastian Asch (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG GT3): "Friday was essentially good for us. We were able to gain more experience, especially with the used tyres we made our long runs on today. Fourth place in the second practice session showed that our car is working well. We are certainly moving in the right direction."

Sven Barth (RWT Racing, Corvette C7 GT3-R): "We’ve tried various things with the setup today, and we’ve learnt a lot with the new Corvette – even if we weren’t able to drive as much as we’d hoped because of the red flags. In the second session, we were on used tyres and worked on our race trim. I’m feeling upbeat about tomorrow’s quali."

Ricky Collard (BMW Team Schnitzer, BMW M6 GT3): "I’m learning more with every session. Fortunately, I have a great coach in my team-mate Philipp Eng. I know that I need to improve. This will be the first year that I’m racing outside the UK. All of the tracks are new to me. It’s also my first year in a GT3 sports car."

Christian Engelhart (GRT Grasser-Racing-Team, Lamborghini Huracán): "The track was still very slippery in the first free practice session, and that caused us problems. But in the afternoon, we improved significantly. The car was almost perfect. We won’t see the true strength of the competition until tomorrow’s qualifying."
