ADAC GT Masters: Comments after practice: Initial conclusions from the drivers at the Sachsenring

Sebastian Asch (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG GT3): "We've found a good set-up. I hope it will be suitable for tomorrow's qualifying as well, but it's bound to be a bit cooler then than it is now. We were running new tyres to secure best time, so we know where we stand. My lap was a good one. I hope I can do it again tomorrow in the quali. I think that a time of 1.17 minutes will be needed to take pole. Edo did very well, considering he's never driven here before, so I'm confident that we can go on the attack this weekend."

Christopher Mies (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS): "It was a good day. We made progress and continued to work on setup. We'll have to see that we put our findings to good use tomorrow. What's important in qualifying is to book a slot on the front two rows, as it's not easy to overtake here."

Philipp Eng (BMW Team Schnitzer, BMW M6 GT3): "It's hard to say where we stand, because we don't know what the other teams have done. The car doesn't feel too bad and the circuit is demanding. Things don't look too bad in that respect."

Jules Gounon (Callaway Competition, Corvette C7 GT3-R): "We made progress during the day and worked a lot on our Corvette's setup. The Mercedes AMGs are probably the ones to beat here even though you shouldn't set too much store on results from practice. The goal is to score as many points as possible."

Renger van der Zande (Callaway Competition, Corvette C7 GT3-R): "I'm pleased to be back in harness and ready to support Jules and the team. The Sachsenring is a great track, one of the best in Europe as far as I'm concerned. I've been grinning from ear to ear all the way here."

Kelvin van der Linde (Aust Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS): "The day was excellent. We tried to give my brother Sheldon as much driving time as possible. That paid off. His pace was really good. He booked a decent time for us in second practice. I think we'll be in the Top Ten in qualifying. We intend to go on the attack on Sunday. I like the track. I've achieved most of my wins in the ADAC GT Masters here. It would be nice if I could secure another one on Sunday with my brother."

Sven Müller (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R): "Unfortunately, we sustained a little bit of damage to the gearbox in first practice. We were down on time subsequently. Also, the car's balance is not like it was during testing. The Sachsenring is, unfortunately, not your typical Porsche circuit with its many fast corners, but we'll get to grips with it."

Norbert Siedler (HB Racing, Lamborghini Huracan GT3): "The track really suits me. However, we don't yet know why we slipped from P4 in the first session to P18 in second practice. We started out on an old set of tyres, then switched to a new, better set, but were still slower than with the old tyres. We are, however, optimistic that we will solve the problem."

Philip Geipel (Yaco Racing, Audi R8 LMS): "The Sachsenring is one of my favourite tracks. But we had problems during first practice and lost some time as a result. Things went better in the second session. Unfortunately, we couldn’t use the track time effectively during the test day, which we're now noticing, but we’re making up for it by being well motivated at our home track."

Yelmer Buurman (Mercedes-AMG Team Zakspeed, Mercedes-AMG GT3): "It was a great day, real fun. I think we're in with a good chance this weekend. I really like the Sachsenring."
