After a promising debut season in the Super Sports Car League, the team from Rietberg near Bielefeld intend to fight for podium finishes in 2017. To this end, team principal Frank Aust will be relying on a mix of experience and youth in the cockpit of their Audi R8 LMS.

Markus Pommer is already a familiar face at Aust Motorsport, having made a promising ADAC GT Masters debut last season in an Aust Audi at the Nürburgring and at Zandvoort. The 26-year-old also knows what it's like to be a winner: in 2014, he totally dominated the ATS Formula 3 Cup, winning the title by a wide margin. At the same time, he went down in the record books as the last German Formula 3 champion.

Pommer will be sharing the cockpit with Pierre Kaffer, who brings a wealth of experience from DTM, prototypes and GT sports. One of the ex-Audi works driver's biggest achievements was his victory in the famous 12 hours of Sebring in 2004. The adoptive Swiss citizen is looking forward to the challenge: "The ADAC GT Masters goes from strength to strength. With cars from seven different manufacturers, the competition here is immense. We want to get ourselves established among the front-runners - that's our stated goal."

Team boss Frank Aust is also intent on moving up to the next level: "Our performance in our debut year was already highly respectable, and we want to build on that. With Markus and Pierre driving for us, I'm convinced that we can be contenders for the title."
