At a fringe event held in the context of the Zurich ADAC 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, BMW Motorsport announced details of further plans for its customer sport product portfolio. The BMW M6 GT3, one of which has been entered by BMW Team Schnitzer for this year's ADAC GT Masters, will continue to be the top model in the vehicle range available to BMW customer teams and privateers until at least the end of 2019. In the meantime, an Evo package is planned for 2018, which will further improve the GT sports car in many areas.
The BMW M6 GT3 made its race debut in 2016. Ricky Collard (20, GB) and Philipp Eng (27, A) registered a maiden Super Sports Car League victory for the car on the opening weekend of the 2017 campaign.
