GRT Grasser Racing to field two Lamborghinis: Second full season in the ADAC GT Masters for Austrian team

The team will field a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 as they did last year. Team principal Gottfried Grasser will be relying on the services of a combination of new and tried-and-tested drivers. Ezequiel Perez Companc (22, RA) and Mirko Bortolotti (27, I) will share the drive in the Lamborghini bearing start number #19. Lamborghini works driver Bortolotti has already raced on several ADAC GT Masters weekends for GRT Grasser Racing, taking a win at the Red Bull Ring in 2015.

The sister car carrying start number #63 will be driven by Rolf Ineichen (38, A) and newly promoted Lamborghini works driver, Christian Engelhart (30, Ingolstadt). The two of them won the race on Sunday at Oschersleben in 2016. Ineichen notched up ten wins in the trophy standings and only narrowly missed lifting the title. According to Grasser, a third car might well be deployed during the course of the season.

"The ADAC GT Masters is simply a must for us," said team boss Grasser. "It has brilliant organisation. There's a great TV presence, loads of viewers, and we can line up at our home circuit, the Red Bull Ring. There’ll be even more competition this season due to the arrival of several strong newcomers. Still, we’re now in our second year and can thus build on a certain amount of experience from the previous year, which will certainly help us."

He finished by saying: "I'm very pleased with our drivers. Mirko Bortolotti, Christian Engelhart and Rolf Ineichen have already won races for us, while Ezequiel Perez Companc is a real diamond in the raw, just waiting to be polished. We're aiming to regularly finish on the podium this year and to consistently score points, which would also mean that we could then be up there with the front-runners in the overall standings."
