After many successful years in open-wheel motor racing, the 22-year-old is bidding farewell to the GP2 series and seeking a fresh challenge in the ADAC GT Masters. It's still not yet been decided for which team the former ADAC Sports Foundation protégé will line up during the 2017 season, however, he will definitely drive a Mercedes-AMG GT3.

"For me as a German driver, the ADAC GT Masters is a great chance to show what I can do in a strong international field of drivers," said the 2012 ADAC Junior Motorsports Person of the Year. "The series has a great following among fans, and I am certain that its standing will continue to rise in the coming years. The switch from a formula racing car to GT sports car will certainly take some getting used to, but I'm ready and looking forward to the new challenge."

Kirchhöfer is no stranger to the ADAC's programme of motor racing. In 2012, he won championship titles in the Formel ADAC and in the Deutsche Post Speed Academy. He also triumphed in the ATS Formula 3 Cup in 2013. Following two third places in GP3 (2014 and 2015), he secured his best result of the season in GP2 with a podium in Monaco in 2016.
