Nissan working on new GT3 racing car for 2018: Nissan plan to have their new GT3 model based on the GT-R ready for the 2018 season.

News from Japan: Nissan are planning a new GT3 for the 2018 season. Like its predecessor, the new GT3-Nissan will be based on the Type GT-R of the R35 series, albeit in a completely reworked version. The new GT3-Nissan is being developed in Japan by Nissan's motorsport subsidiary NISMO. Former FIA GT1 world champion Michael Krumm and Japan’s own Masataka Yanagida have been chosen as development drivers. The vehicle will be tested in both Japan and Europe. The current Nissan GT-R GT3 has been a regular entry in the ADAC GT Masters since 2012.

"While we continue to support customer teams around the world with our Nissan GT R NISMO GT3 this year, we will be working on a completely new version of this car ," said Takao Katagiri, CEO and President of NISMO on Friday at a presentation of the worldwide motorsport activities of Nissan in Yokohama. "You can look forward to a new, state-of-the-art and highly competitive GT-R which will ensure that, in the future too, customers will prefer the GT-R to the many GT3 alternatives from European manufacturers and the GT3 models offered by other competitor brands."
