With his best time of 1.26.862 minutes, the Austrian Porsche driver from Schütz Motorsport was not only the best of the session but also the fastest overall on the first day of the Super Sports Car League season. In the second practice session, last year's championship winners, Connor De Phillippi and Christopher Mies, were 0.225 seconds slower in the Audi R8 LMS fielded by Land-Motorsport. Third place also went to the brand with four rings, to Markus Pommer and Kelvin van der Linde in their Audi R8 LMS prepared by Aust Motorsport.
Sebastian Asch and Stefan Mücke (both BWT Mücke Motorsport) came home in fourth place and were the best-placed Mercedes-AMG drivers, followed by Rolf Ineichen and Christian Engelhart (both GRT Grasser Racing Team), the fastest pair in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3.
The two Mercedes-AMG GT3s belonging to Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport placed sixth and tenth respectively. Patrick Assenheimer and Maximilian Götz were the faster of the two pairings. Their team-mates and newcomers to the ADAC GT Masters, Indy Dontje and Marvin Kirchhöfer, completed the Top Ten.
Christopher Haase and Jeffrey Schmidt, who had been fastest in first practice, slotted into seventh place between the two Mercedes-AMGs in the second Audi R8 LMS belonging to Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, finishing ahead of the only BMW in the field, as BMW Team Schnitzer's M6 GT3 with Philipp Eng and Ricky Collard placed eighth. Lamborghini drivers Ezequiel Perez Companc and Mirko Bortolotti (both GRT Grasser Racing Team) came home in ninth place.
The gaps between cars were once again very small, as in first practice. In the end, just one second covered 14 cars.
