Elia Erhart (EFP by TECE, Audi R8 LMS), P1 overall: "Magnificent! I'm actually speechless. It was such a tough fight towards the end. It became clear to me that racing is all about what's going on in your head, and my head really wanted to win. When we managed to take our pit stop during the safety car deployment, I calculated and was actually pretty certain that we would come out well ahead of the Porsche that had led the race up to then. I came under a lot of pressure from Sheldon towards the end, but I concentrated especially hard at those places where he was faster and made sure I always carried a lot of momentum onto the straights. That way, he was unable to outbrake me. It was tough, but everything was fair. Now we intend to celebrate."
Pierre Kaffer (EFP by TECE, Audi R8 LMS), P1 overall: "The race was chaotic. We were lucky on the first start and had only minimal contact with one other car. Our car was really good yesterday and also in today's race. Yes, we were lucky with our pit stop during the safety car, but I don't think anyone begrudges us that. Everyone in this series works hard for success, and today we were the lucky ones. Elia came out just ahead of the safety car, and that took us forward. On the final laps of the race, he probably drove the stint of his life. Many thanks to everyone who made this victory possible."
Kelvin van der Linde (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P2 overall and victory in Pirelli Junior class: "We didn't think that we would be back on the podium today. I had a dream start and gained three places. I knew I was a bit slower than the cars behind me, but I was nonetheless able to hang on to second place."
Sheldon van der Linde (Montaplast by Land Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P2 overall and victory in Pirelli Junior class: "I'm not entirely satisfied, because I think we could have won the race. I didn't want to take any risks towards the end, as it was important to earn points. Anyway, second place is good. We're still in with a chance of winning the title, and that's what counts."
Jeffrey Schmidt (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P3 overall, P2 in Pirelli Junior class: "The race was extremely chaotic, with the red flags coming out once and the safety car being deployed several times. And then there was also the safety car during the pit stop window. We were able to make optimum use of this thanks to our strategy and to return to the track in fifth place. From then on, we went on all-out attack. At the restart, a Porsche locked up and hit the front left of the car. From then on, the tracking was completely out, and driving was extremely difficult. The steering wheel was about 30 degrees to the right of centre. Anyway, I was able to hang on to third through to the finish. This is obviously a great result from 18th on the grid."
Stefan Mücke (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P3 overall, P2 in Pirelli Junior class: "What a crazy race from start to finish! We were not very happy with our qualifying result. We didn't think we could accomplish much from so far back. The first start was chaotic. We came through it reasonably OK but had some damage on the left side, so we had to get the car taped up before the restart. But the tape held up all right. We decided to stay out longer before our pit stop. That was the key to success. At the precise moment we entered the pit lane, the safety car came out. Sometimes you are unlucky and sometimes you are lucky. Jeffrey did a good job afterwards. So here we are on the podium. We hadn't been expecting that. We are absolutely delighted."
Timo Bernhard (KÜS Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P5 overall: "Fifth place is absolutely fine. Kévin started this chaotic race well from seventh on the grid and moved up several places. Our strategy was good. I was in fourth place. As the safety car came out during the pit stop window, some cars moved up the field from positions nearer the back to the front. I was eighth and was then able to reclaim fifth place. That was the maximum, so it was a good weekend in that respect. Long may it continue! We will keep on attacking, and we intend to repeat our success from this weekend at Hockenheim. Overall, the team's hard work has paid off. Pole position in both races, a win and a fifth place - that's something to be proud of."
Remo Lips (Aust Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P12 overall, winner in Pirelli Trophy class: "I was very shocked to suddenly find myself in third place after the safety car went back in. I asked about ten times on the radio if it was really true, or whether I had to let myself be lapped. The guys behind me really piled on the pressure, plus my car was no longer running too well, which is why I dropped back. Still, to take the Trophy win from grid slot 32 and secure P12 overall is OK by me."
Maximilian Hackländer (Aust Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P12 overall, winner in Pirelli Trophy class: "We were lucky with the safety car, as it promoted us up the field into P3. The car was not good to drive, and it was very difficult to maintain position, so Remo did the best he could. It was important to win the Trophy classification. We can now head to Hockenheim without too much pressure."
Klaus Bachler (KÜS Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), DNF: "I got away to a good start, then the race was halted. Everything went fine on the restart, and I was able to control the race from the front. Our pit stop was also good, but the safety car came out again when the pit stop window was still open, and suddenly there were three cars in front of us that had been well down the field before the stop. Then someone forced Adrien out onto the gravel trap on the restart. That was a pity, because our pace was good both in qualifying and in the race. Ending the weekend like that is obviously very hard for us as drivers and for the entire team."
Adrien De Leener (KUS Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), DNF: "We had a very good chance of winning today. Klaus did a first-rate job in qualifying and at the start. We still had a chance of winning after the pit stops, even though that was made much more difficult with three slower cars in front of us. On the restart, the driver in front of me made a mistake. I couldn't overtake before the start line but had to back off a bit. Then he braked far too late in front of me. I drove into the gap and spun. What a sad end to the weekend."
