ADAC GT Masters: Comments after the second race: Observations from the paddock after the race on Sunday

Frank Stippler (Team ISR, Audi R8 LMS), P1 overall: "We laid the foundations for victory in the early stages of the race. We started on a fresh set of tyres, and that certainly paid off. We were able to pull out an early lead while the drivers behind us were busy scrapping with each other. This is a great success for our team which is new to the ADAC GT Masters. We have been steadily improving, but we've also had bad luck on occasions, because there have been several races where we didn't finish. This victory therefore comes as a pleasant change."

Filip Salaquarda (Team ISR, Audi R8 LMS), P1 overall: "What a great day! To win a race in our first ADAC GT Masters season is really fantastic. Stippi put in a fantastic first stint and handed the car over to me in first place. After that, I tried to increase our lead, which I succeeded in doing. Towards the end, though, I went easy on the tyres. The team and Frank did a great job. We have been improving from race to race, and we work really well together. Consequently, the win is a magnificent reward - especially after we had to retire from yesterday's race following a collision that was not our fault."

Maximilian Götz (Mann-Filter Team HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P2 overall: "After the start, I suddenly saw the Corvette ahead of me. I've no idea how it got there from tenth on the grid. After that, I got into a good rhythm and was able to hand over the car in third place. After the two podium finishes this weekend, we are only one point behind the Corvette in the overall standings. And the next two race weekends at Zandvoort and at the Sachsenring should suit our Mercedes-AMG GT3."

Markus Pommer (Mann-Filter Team HTP Motorsport, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P2 overall: "Once again, it became clear just how easy-going the Mercedes-AMG GT3 is on the tyres over the distance. I was getting closer and closer to the Audi and could see that I had more grip. Despite that, all cars in this championship are so fast that you don't just sail past. So I used the brakes to exploit a small mistake by Mike and get right on his tail going into the chicane. I then used the good traction and torque of my car to get alongside him on the exit. After that, he didn't stand a chance on the home straight."

Markus Winkelhock (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P3 overall and winner in the Pirelli Junior class: "After the start, I was able to maintain second place behind Stippler. I was glad that we kept out of trouble at the start, because there is always some risk of that on the first two or three corners. After that, I had to defend against the Corvette for several laps, because it was much faster on the straights. As a result, I lost touch with Stippler. The car ran well and the pace was good. Losing second place on the last couple of laps was obviously disappointing, but Mike did a great job overall. I think we can be very happy with third place, and I hope we can continue in the same vein over the forthcoming races."

Mike David Ortmann (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P3 overall and winner in the Pirelli Junior class: "The race went really well. We also had good pace, but unfortunately the tyres were degrading badly towards the end, which is why I lost second position. Despite that, I am mega happy about our first podium in the general classification. A big thank-you to the team and also to Markus for the great condition he handed the car over in. I'll be delighted if it carries on this way."

Christopher Haase (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P4 overall and P2 in the Pirelli Junior class: "We were capable of securing pole position today, but due to the traffic on the track, I wasn't able to exploit our potential at the right time. That annoyed me a bit. But apart from that, the race itself was good. We have nothing to reproach ourselves for, and we made the best out of our grid position."

Ricardo Feller (BWT Mücke Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P4 overall and P2 in the Pirelli Junior class: "We showed what we are capable of this weekend, and we were competing in the Top Ten on both occasions. We can be satisfied with that. Now I'm looking forward to Zandvoort. It's my favourite track, and it should suit our car too."

Klaus Bachler (KÜS Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P6 overall: "I'm really happy. Sixth place feels like a victory, because it was the maximum we were ever going to get at the Nürburgring. Adrien did a great job and got through the whole weekend without making a mistake. The entire team has been working so hard all year. And here again, the car was really good. I am happy that we have produced a great result today and I'm looking forward to the upcoming races."

Timo Bernhard (KÜS Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P8 overall: "The positive aspect is that both cars are in the Top Ten; I think that's marvellous. It also goes to show that we accord both cars equal status. Adrien is in his second year with us and deserves this result, because he has been so close to finishing in the points on several previous occasions. So P6 must seem like a win to him - he did ever so well. And the same goes for Klaus, of course, with his strong qualifying and race. As for our car, an opponent drove into the back of us in the chicane on Lap 1, as a result of which our diffuser was broken. The car was quite badly damaged and we were consequently lacking pace. I'm glad that, after such a hard fight, I still managed to come home in eighth. It was all about survival on the day."

Luca Stolz (Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P9 overall and P3 in the Pirelli Junior class: "The performance in qualifying was unfortunately not quite up to scratch. We had actually expected more. But the race itself was good. We had a good pit stop and made progress through the field. Sometimes, unfortunately, there is nothing more that you can do. In the circumstances, we are satisfied with ninth place."

Sebastian Asch (Team Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P9 overall and P3 in the Pirelli Junior class: "Unfortunately, we only started from 13th place. In a quali of mixed fortunes, we also had problems identifying the right moment to put in a clear lap in all the traffic. So we knew it was going to be difficult to get into the Top Ten. The start was not so bad, but unfortunately I then got stuck behind Jens Klingmann in the BMW. I eventually managed to overtake him and started to close the gap on the leading bunch. Towards the end, Luca overtook two more cars and pulled us up to ninth place. I'm happy that we were able to mitigate the situation in the end, and it's always good to score points."

Remo Lips (Aust Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS), P14 overall and winner in the Pirelli Trophy classification: "I took over the car in seventh place and unfortunately lost a few places. I was lacking driving practice because I haven't sat in a racing car for almost two months. At the end of the day, though, I'm happy to have finished in the Top 15 and to have won the Trophy class."
