It is being designed and built at the Aston Martin Racing factory in Banbury, England. The previous model has been available for the past twelve years. The British manufacturer built 42 units, 37 of which were purchased by customer teams. The muscular V12 car competed in the 2012 and 2013 ADAC GT Masters, winning a race at the Sachsenring in its debut year.
The new GT3 version is powered by a modified version of the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which is incorporated into the latest production vehicles from the British manufacturer. In the development of the new GT3 sports car, Aston Martin based the design on that of the new Vantage GTE for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). This made its race debut last weekend at Spa. It was developed over the past 18 months in parallel with the production version. The new Vantage GT3 is to be homologated on 1st March 2019.
John Gaw, Managing Director of Aston Martin Racing, said: "We are very proud to have established ourselves as one of the leading manufacturers of GT racing cars for customer teams. You can see our vehicles contesting series all over the world. Seven years ago, we told our customers that they were buying a car that was capable of winning races for many years to come. It is this longevity factor that sets us apart from the other manufacturers. I expect the new model to be equally competitive over a similar period."
