Having started from eleventh on the grid, the Belgian and his partner Christopher Mies immediately gained two positions. The Audi R8 LMS of Montaplast by Land-Motorsport emerged from the mandatory pit stop in sixth and held on to the position through to the finish. This was enough for Picariello to claim a maiden victory in the Pirelli Junior class.
"Today was significantly better than yesterday when we were involved in the pile-up at the start," said Picariello. "I had a good stint and managed to close the gap on the cars in front of me. Sixth overall and victory in the Junior class is a good way to round off the weekend here at Most, which is a track I really like."
Second in the category for drivers under 25 years of age was Ricardo Feller in the BWT Mücke Motorsport Audi which he shares with veteran Christopher Haase. The Junior podium was completed by Picariello's teammate Sheldon van der Linde, who was ably assisted by his older brother Kelvin in the R8 LMS.
Switzerland's Rolf Ineichen took the victory in the Pirelli Trophy classification at the wheel of a Lamborghini entered by GRT Grasser Racing Team. "I think we got the maximum out of today's race with P15 overall and the Trophy win," said the 39-year-old. "We had a perfect car and everything was fine, but we were never going to finish any higher than we did."
