Christmas comes early for ADAC GT Masters Champions Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet: at the annual Porsche Night of the Champions gala on Saturday night in Weissach (Baden-Württemberg), the successful duo were honoured with two different yet equally valuable awards.
Jaminet as Porsche Young Professional stays on as a Junior works driver and can look forward to further international race outings in the Porsche 911 RSR next year. The Luxembourg-based Frenchman will be driving a works Porsche in the GTE Pro class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and will also be competing in an RSR entered by the US Porsche works team in the top US endurance classics: the 24 hour Daytona, 12-hour Sebring, 6-hour Watkins Glens and the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
Robert Renauer meanwhile took the runner-up spot in the Porsche Cup, the international competition for the best Porsche privateer which has been running since 1970, earning him a cheque for 30,000 euros. This year’s trophy went to Christian Ried for the second time in a row. Renauer was himself the winner of the Porsche Cup in 2016.
The honours for Renauer and Jaminet keep coming: next weekend, the two champions will be feted on the occasion of the ADAC Sports Gala at ADAC headquarters in Munich.
