Phoenix Racing have announced the third of their four drivers for the 2018 ADAC GT Masters. Oscar Tunjo from Colombia and Philip Ellis from the UK were already in the squad from Meuspath near Koblenz, and they are now joined by 18-year-old Max Hofer, who will drive one of the two Audi R8 LMSs. Hofer is graduating from the ADAC TCR Germany series in which he drove an Audi RS3 LMS last year. Hofer will be sharing a cockpit with Philip Ellis in the ADAC GT Masters.
Max Hofer: "I am very pleased that the Phoenix Racing team have shown such confidence in me and are giving me the opportunity to be part of what will hopefully be a successful campaign. I would like to thank Ernst Moser and everyone in the team, and I just can't wait to take the next step in my career with them. I am all the more delighted, because the chemistry between me and everyone on the team is just so good. Let's hope that the 2018 season is a steep learning curve!"
Team principal Ernst Moser: "It's great to have another talented youngster on board in the shape of Max. After the first test drives in our Audi R8 LMS GT3 in Portimao, we both decided that he should skip the intermediate stage of the GT4 European Championship and go straight into the 2018 ADAC GT Masters as a Junior. The impression made by Max during the tests suggest that this is going to be a great rookie year."
