Team-mate Lance David Arnold laid the foundations for Friedrich's success in the Mercedes-AMG of Car Collection Motorsport by qualifying fifth on the grid. In the race itself, he was in fourth place for a quite a time before handing over to his young partner at the compulsory pit stop. Friedrich finally finished sixth overall and was the best placed junior driver.
"I'm very pleased," said Friedrich. "We've managed to make good progress with the car's development since yesterday, as Saturday was a bit of a mixed bag. Lance did a great job in qualifying and we were well placed as he handed over the car to me. What a great end to a good weekend!"
Swiss driver Nicolaj Rogivue was the second-best Junior after finishing eighth in the best-placed Audi R8 LMS together with Aust-Motorsport partner Frederic Vervisch. The third-best junior driver came home not far behind in tenth place - fellow Audi driver, Ricardo Feller from BWT Mücke Motorsport, aided by Christopher Haase.
In the Pirelli Trophy classification, the win went to Swiss driver, Rolf Ineichen, who finished second overall along with Christian Engelhart in the Lamborghini prepared by GRT Grasser Racing Team. The duo had led the race for a long time and ultimately missed overall victory by only 1.8 seconds despite the weekend getting off to a bad start with Ineichen's crash on Friday. The car had to be repaired overnight in a long shift for the mechanics. "Christian secured an excellent grid position for us with pole," said Ineichen. "But more importantly, the team put the car back in working order after my smash. A big thank you to all concerned. Our result is the well-deserved reward for all the hard work. The car was great. I had to nurse the tyres a bit towards the end, but it was fun!"
