Mikkel Jensen in maiden Junior class win: Rolf Ineichen on top in Lamborghini Pirelli Trophy

Mikkel Jensen had already secured a front row start in qualifying. Only pole-sitter Marvin Kirchhöfer in a Corvette C7 GT3 R was faster than the Dane. Jensen defended his second position from the start and tenaciously held on to it through to the driver changeover. His partner, two-time DTM champion Timo Scheider, then successfully steered the BMW M6 GT3 to the runner-up spot. The duo, who are contesting their first season in the ADAC GT Masters, thus achieved their best finish to date. For Jensen, it was also a first victory in the Pirelli Junior classification.

"We had no chance against the Corvette," said the BMW Junior. "Whenever we increased our speed, it always went that little bit faster. But I'm very satisfied with our result - also that the sister car from our team took third place. It's fantastic to come away with such a result."

Second place in the Junior category went to Jensen's team-mates Dennis Marschall and Victor Bouveng, who were also on the podium as overall third. P3 in the Junior stakes was taken by Sheldon van der Linde in the Audi R8 LMS of Montaplast by Land-Motorsport.

Switzerland's Rolf Ineichen secured victory in the Pirelli Trophy classification for the third time this season after he and Lamborghini co-driver Christian Engelhart staged an impressive charge from P24 on the grid to finish twelfth. The duo drive for GRT Grasser Racing Team, which is based just a few kilometres from the Red Bull Ring. "That was the maximum today," said Ineichen. "The car was perfect."
