A new team based in Dresden is planning to make its ADAC GT Masters debut in 2019: T3 Motorsport have announced their intention to field an Audi R8 LMS driven by a junior duo. Sharing the cockpit will be Maximilian Paul, a graduate of the Audi R8 Cup, and Simon Reicher from Austria, his friend from the ADAC TCR Germany series. The team have a stated policy of promoting young talent.
Team manager Jens Feucht explains: “Our aim is to give two up-and-coming youngsters the opportunity to establish themselves on the grid, to get talent-spotted as works drivers and to ultimately make a career in the sport. Max and Simon are very young and also very dedicated. They have already demonstrated what they are capable of in many areas, both of them on the karting circuit, Max in the Audi R8 Cup and Simon in the TCR car. We’ve also been impressed by their attitude outside the car – it’s been great to see how they work with engineers and use data, how their learning and development is progressing. I believe this will also be a key element in the team’s performance.”
The two drivers have known each other for some time, explains Maximilian Paul: “We started together in karting. We went our separate ways in the 2014/15 seasons when Simon started driving real cars and I stayed on in karting. Now, thanks to this new team, our paths have crossed again, and I think that will be a good thing.”
T3 Motorsport have already raised a few eyebrows with the livery of the Audi. “We aimed for an in-your-face look, so that everyone would instantly recognise it as a new arrival in the line up,” says Maximilian Paul.
