Festival mood at Hockenheim: The ADAC Masters ceremony on Sunday evening at Hockenheim had a distinctly Oktoberfest theme. The new ADAC GT Masters champions, Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet, were both dressed in lederhosen and a typical Bavarian shirt supplied by ADAC GT Masters fashion partner CAMP DAVID. They also had the honour of tapping a barrel of Veltins to launch the ‘Wiesn am Hockenheimring’ party. At the trophy presentations to the ADAC GT Masters, ADAC Formula 4 and ADAC TCR Germany winners, there were also plenty of lederhosen and dirndls on display. The day before, the Porsche Carrera Cup contestants had already marked the beginning of the winter break with their own end-of-season party.

Magnificent backdrop: More than 25,000 spectators turned up to witness the dramatic climax to the title fight in both the ADAC GT Masters and its support series at Hockenheim.

Late catch-up: Audi drivers Sheldon and Kelvin van der Linde continued their impressive second half of the season at Hockenheim with a win and a third-place finish. Since Zandvoort, they have appeared on the podium on six occasions. Their tally of six Top Three finishes has brought them more podiums than any other driver pairing. Despite the late charge, the two South Africans missed out on the drivers’ title by just one point.

Flying visit: YouTube star and TV presenter JP Kraemer was once again in attendance at the ADAC GT Masters weekend where he was visiting his IronForce by RING POLICE team.

The garb of champions: Mann-Filter Team HTP celebrated their title win in the team classification on Sunday evening by kitting their members out in T-shirts bearing the logo ‘Champions’. The shirt was in the bright yellow Mamba look to match the livery of their two Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars.

Milestone: Callaway Competition secured their 30th win in the ADAC GT Masters on Saturday thanks to a P1 finish by Marvin Kirchhöfer and Daniel Keilwitz. No other racing team has notched up this number of wins in the Super Sports Car League.

Huge following: Callaway Competition and AutoArenA Motorsport are both based quite near the Hockenheimring and consequently invited hundreds of guests to their home race.

Run comes to an end: After Robert Renauer was the 13th driver in the 13th race of the season to claim pole position on Saturday, Mercedes-AMG driver Maximilian Götz took his second pole of the year a day later, thereby becoming the first and only driver to do so twice.

GT4 premiere: A presentation was organised in a special exhibition area for the new ADAC GT4 Germany series which is due to make its debut in 2019. Fans were thrilled by the sight of new models from Audi, BMW, KTM, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche.

Celebrity fans: Newly crowned champions Robert Renauer and Mathieu Jaminet had some prominent backers in their challenge for the title. Head of Porsche Motorsport Frank-Steffen Walliser was urging the two of them on from the pit lane, as was works driver Sven Müller, who competed for Precote Herberth Motorsport in 2017. Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Customer Sports, and Jonas Krauss, BMW Customer Sports Director, were also guests at Hockenheim.

Top Junior: Sheldon van der Linde once again showed at Hockenheim why he is such a worthy winner of the Pirelli Junior class in 2018. In the grand finale, he registered class wins three and four. No other driver in the Junior category has had more than a single win.

Success for Switzerland: Audi driver Remo Lips lifted the Pirelli Trophy (the classification for amateur drivers) for the third time in a row and now holds the record for title wins. Lamborghini driver Rolf Ineichen holds the class record for race wins, namely 25. Lips and Ineichen displaced their fellow Swiss Toni Seiler at the top of both all-time lists.

Comeback: After a one-year absence from the ADAC GT Masters, the Swabian outfit Schütz Motorsport announced at Hockenheim that they intend to return to the series in 2019 with two Mercedes-AMG GT3s. They have already confirmed the first name in their line-up – Marvin Dienst who won the ADAC Junior title in 2017. The team led by Christian Schütz also plans to enter two Mercedes-AMG GT4s in the new ADAC GT4 Germany series. Schütz exhibited a GT4-AMG in the paddock at Hockenheim, the 100th of the new model to emerge from the Mercedes-AMG factory at Affalterbach.

Top result: Sven Barth and team-mate Claudia Hürtgen not only finished first in the Pirelli Trophy class on Saturday but also secured the best result of the season for themselves and their RWT Racing team.

Double strike: Luca Ludwig and Davide Rigon driving the HB Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 scored their first championship points of the season at the weekend – a P7 on Saturday and a P8 on Sunday.

Construction work: The renovation of the inner grandstand at the Hockenheimring is in full swing. At the entrance to the Motodrom, work has begun on the Porsche Experience Center which is scheduled to open its doors in late 2019.
