Robert Renauer (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P1 overall: "Definitely a very good curtain-raiser weekend. The season could not have started much better for us. After the two free practice sessions, I would never have expected this. So thanks are due to my team, and many thanks also to my partner Thomas Preining, who has really settled in very well and delivered a great performance all weekend. But of course, we still have work ahead of us. The track at Most was very good for us last year, so we're obviously hoping that we'll be up there on the podium twice again like we were last time."
Thomas Preining (Precote Herberth Motorsport, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P1 overall: "I had obviously been hoping for a debut in the ADAC GT Masters as good as this, but I didn't really expect it. This morning was the first time I've driven a Porsche in a wet qualifying session, but it went superbly well with third place. My stint was excellent, and the car was great. Mirko Bortolotti did a magnificent job at the front and wasn't making any mistakes. I could have tried something, but only by taking risks, and on the first race weekend of the season, it's important just to score points. Robert then took the lead after the pit stop and sealed the victory. I am mega happy."
Ricardo Feller (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS GT3), P2 overall, P1 Pirelli Junior: "That was a good start to the 2019 ADAC GT Masters. It's my first podium in the general classification. I'm just so happy. Second place overall and P1 in the Pirelli Junior stakes! A big thank you to the team, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the year."
Dries Vanthoor (Montaplast by Land-Motorsport, Audi R8 LMS GT3), P2 overall: "I'm obviously delighted. Yesterday we finished fourth, and today we managed second place, which brings us a decent points haul which we can really use. Although I felt a heavy impact in Turn 1, the car remained intact and I was able to drive a decent race behind the leading trio. It's difficult to overtake here, so taking any big risk this early in the season is simply not worth it. Of course, these first two races of the season have gone really well, but it's still too early to be thinking about the title. We're going to take each race as it comes, and only towards the end of the season should we focus more on winning points than on banking them. At the moment, every race weekend counts the same for us, and we will always try to do our best."
Rolf Ineichen (Orange1 by GRT Grasser, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo), P3 overall, P1 Pirelli Trophy: "So far we've had a pretty rubbish weekend; we've had to work hard to be competitive at all. The rain in qualifying played into our hands; in dry conditions, a grid position like the one we got today would have been beyond our reach. Overtaking is very difficult here, so Franck did a very good job of getting the car up to fourth ahead of the pit stop. We were also able to gain one position during the stop. Unfortunately, it was because our sister car had a puncture which moved us up the field. We are obviously very happy with our third place, but it's a pity for the team - first place for the sister car would have been well deserved. Victory in the Pirelli Trophy makes me very happy, of course, and also quite proud."
Michele Beretta (Orange1 by GRT Grasser, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo), P5 overall, P2 Pirelli Junior class: "I'm obviously very happy. Rolf and I did a great job - he drove a great race. My start was good, but I think van der Linde jumped the lights slightly, which cost me one position. But anyway, I was able to overtake the Porsche. After that, I was much faster than van der Linde, but it was impossible to overtake him. My in-lap was very good and we had a great pit stop. Also, the strategy to delay it was good. Rolf defended third place superbly. All in all, it's been a good start to the season. "
Nicolai Sylvest (MRS GT-Racing, BMW M6 GT3), P6 overall, P3 Pirelli Junior: "This was my first weekend in a car that I didn't really know beforehand. But all in all, I'm mega happy and feel positive about the car and how it runs. The team too are very professional, and I'm pleased to be driving a BMW this year. To be honest, I never realised that I was in sixth place. I first found out on the radio. I knew, though, that I was in a good position, because I was never overtaken but managed to overtake several other drivers. I can't wait now for our next outing at Most and feel really motivated."
Matteo Cairoli (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P7 overall, P3 Pirelli Trophy: "It's a pity that I got a penalty. Stupid, really. I just was not totally focused on my position on the grid. Sorry for my mistake, but then I gave it my all and we were able to secure some points, which is always good. The car ran really well. Many thanks to everyone in the team for doing such a great job. I hope things go better for us next time."
Adrien de Leener (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), P7 overall: "It's a shame that we got a five-second penalty, as we could otherwise have been in contention for a podium. Still, we achieved the maximum at the end of the day and finished seventh. Matteo did a great job the whole weekend, especially in this morning's qualifying. I'm mega happy to be sharing a cockpit with him and am pretty confident that many more successes will follow this first one."
Indy Dontje (Mann-Filter Team HTP, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P8 overall: "That was damage limitation for the second time. We finished in the points again after a quali that was not perfect. While we didn't fully live up to expectations, all in all, we have to be satisfied with the result."
Mirko Bortolotti (Orange1 by GRT Grasser, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo), P21 overall: "Our race was perfect in actual fact until the pit stop. I was able to defend my lead and then pit from P1, but just before the stop, the left rear tyre lost pressure. We changed the wheel in the pits. Unfortunately, we were handed a penalty. We were basically satisfied with the car's performance, but still, I would never have qualified on pole but for this morning's rain. It was the weather ultimately that gave me that chance."
Philip Ellis (Mann-Filter Team HTP, Mercedes-AMG GT3), P23 overall: "The fact that our pace was good is something positive that we need to take away from this messed-up weekend. The hit that Fabian took really capped it off. I was faster than the cars around me, but there's nothing doing when you're a lap down. The next circuit in Most should suit us, and we'll have to turn our solid foundations into top results."
Timo Bernhard (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), DNF: "Unfortunately, my race was soon brought to a close when the guy in front made a mistake while I was overtaking. I got myself alongside him, but he left me no room and forced me off. Our car was so badly damaged that I was unable to continue. It's a pity, because the day had started really well for us with a strong qualifying session."
Klaus Bachler (Küs Team75 Bernhard, Porsche 911 GT3 R), DNF: "Not the weekend we'd hoped for. It started well with qualifying. Fifth on the grid was good. Unfortunately, I didn't get away well and was hemmed in on all sides in the first turn. Another driver then forced me to run wide and lose valuable positions. Overtaking here is impossible unless the guy in front makes a mistake. Then we had a smash after the pit stop, unfortunately. It's just too bad. We never thought that the weekend would turn out like this, but there's nothing to be done about it. We'll just have to pull together and look ahead. The season is still young."
