ADAC GT Masters·11.3.2019

Aidan Read named as second driver at Schütz: The Australian will become Marvin Dienst's team-mate

The German-Australian duo will share the drive in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 prepared by the German outfit this season. While Dienst raced in the ADAC GT Masters back in 2016, the Super Sports Car League is new to his partner, Read. The 'Aussie' has been most impressive so far in motor racing, especially in Asia, having already secured a win in the LMP2 class in the Asian Le Mans Series and seen competition in the Blancpain GT Series Asia which is where he met Christian Schütz, who is now his Team Principal but was his race engineer back then.

"This is a terrific opportunity. I'll be facing the challenge of racing in this hard-fought European GT3 series," said Read. "I feel confident that we at Schütz Motorsport have a strong package and should do well both in the overall standings and in the Pirelli Junior classification. I've known Christian Schütz since 2018, and we work well together. His team have already been successful in the ADAC GT Masters. There's a lot to learn this year with the car, the track and the series. They're all new to me. I'll be competing against works drivers, which will be a good measure of my ability."

Team Principal Christian Schütz is delighted with his driver crew: "We've got a great car and two drivers keen to make a good impression in one of the strongest GT racing series around. Marvin is a terrific young talent and will be returning to the ADAC GT Masters. We had a tough season in 2016 and still have a score to settle. Aidan is also exciting as a young driver. We think he has a lot of potential. He and Marvin will make a great team. We hope that they can stir things up and do well."
