The young Austrian from Montaplast by Land-Motorsport had already laid the basis for success with third place overall in qualifying. He stayed there during the race until the handover to partner Christopher Mies, who lost a position to Corvette driver David Jahn after a contact and finished fourth overall. Hofer and Mies were bumped up into P3 overall, as Jahn and team-mate Sven Barth were penalised after the race for causing the collision. As a result, Hofer secured victory in the Junior classification, his first since Oschersleben 2018.
"Looking back over the past few days, we would not have expected to get such a result, because we were having major problems with the car. Fortunately, we found the right solution yesterday afternoon and were able to show our true speed in qualifying today. The race was very tough, but we are very happy with third place. For us, it’s important to deliver a good qualifying result tomorrow, then in the race itself, we will be on all-out attack again."
Marvin Dienst and Aidan Read in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 from Schütz Motorsport were sixth overall and second-best Juniors. Third place went to the Italian, Mattia Drudi, who shares an Audi R8 LMS from EFP Car Collection by Tece with Florian Spengler.
Corvette driver Sven Barth dominated the Pirelli Trophy classification in Saturday’s race. After finishing fourth overall in qualifying, Barth and RWT team-mate David Jahn took fourth place in the race. They had finished third initially but lost a place following their retrospective penalty. However, Barth was still able to claim his second Trophy win of the year. Defending champion Remo Lips took second place in the amateur stakes, driving Aust’s Audi. Third place went to Rolf Ineichen in the Lamborghini from Orange1 by GRT Grasser.
